Research and Scholarship are core institutional themes of Roseman University of Health Sciences. The Office of Research promotes research and innovation and provides programs and services to support Roseman faculty, staff, and students in their research activities.
The Office of Research is the University point of contact for these services:
- Submission of research proposals
- Clinical trial participation and/or initiation
- Lab safety training
- Research misconduct complaints
- Use of research and laboratory facilities
The following units fall under the Office of Research:
- Grants Administration – provides support for proposal submissions, compliance, and reporting.
- Institutional Review Board – ensures the safety of human subjects is not compromised.
- Safety and Compliance – responsible for oversight and management of compliance with applicable policies, standards, and regulations.

Jeffery Talbot, PhD
Vice President for Research and Dean, College of Graduate Studies
Dr. Jeff Talbot is the Vice President for Research and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies at Roseman University of Health Sciences. Dr. Talbot received a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Nevada before earning a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Prior to joining Roseman, Dr. Talbot served as a National Institute on Drug Abuse Research Fellow at the University of Michigan Medical School and as Assistant/Associate Professor at the Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy. Most recently, Dr. Talbot served as the Asst. Dean for Research and Faculty Development at the Roseman University College of Pharmacy. His research interests focus on drug discovery in substance use and psychiatric disorders.
Sonia Jones, BA, MPA, CRA
Director of Grants Administration
Sonia Jones serves as the Director of Grants Administration. She earned a Master of Public Administration (2005) and a Bachelor of Psychology (2003) from California State University Northridge. Before coming to Roseman, she worked as a Research Administrator at UCLA, David Geffen School of Medicine and The University of Texas at Arlington. She enjoys applying her broad research administration experience, which includes pre-award, post-award, and grant accounting to her position here at Roseman.
Deniz Alp, BS
Research Administration Assistant
Deniz Alp serves as the Research Administration Assistant, and supports research and grants related areas for Roseman University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Istanbul, Turkey and also completed the International Management Program after finishing her degree. Deniz trained as an Industrial Microbiologist and worked at QA/QC departments at both GSK and Colgate gaining experience in quality testing of production. After moving to the States, Deniz worked at the University of Oregon’s Transgenic Mouse Facility and participated in various projects in stem cell research. She brought her experience to Roseman and served as a Research Lab Technician before moving on to Research Administration. She enjoys providing support for different units and multidisciplinary projects at Roseman University.
Imelda Revuelto, BS, MSEd
RNPC Director of Program Operations, Training & Partnerships
Imelda Revuelto serves as the Director of Operations, Training and Partnerships for the Registered Nurse in Primary Care (RNPC) Grant. She has previously served as the VBSN Director of Student Affairs / Grant Manager and the College of Nursing Recruitment, Admissions and Enrollment Coordinator. Imelda earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Enrollment Management from Capella University. Imelda’s grant experiences include proposal writing, project development and implementation, management, evaluation and reporting for grants awarded under the United States Health and Resources Administration (HRSA) Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention (NEPQR); the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV); and the Department of Education GEAR UP grant. Imelda has presented at numerous conferences in the areas of veteran student services, credit articulation, transfer enrollment, nursing education and dual credit/dual enrollment.
Colleen Takahashi, BS
Institutional Review Board Director
Colleen Takahashi serves as the Institutional Review Board Director, and manages IRBManager, CITI Training, and the Clinical Trials PRS System for Roseman University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego. Before working at Roseman, Colleen worked at a private company that accredited Continuing Medical Education for physicians and has also worked in interventional research settings for children with Autism and patients with Parkinson’s Disease. She enjoys bringing her previous experience and knowledge in both regulations and research to her position here at Roseman University.
Ragini Bhakta, PharmD, BCPS
Institutional Review Board Chair
Dr. Ragini Bhakta serves as the Institutional Review Board Chair and is the Director of the Teaching Certificate Program at Roseman University. She is also an Associate Professor and teaches Pharmacotherapy courses at Roseman University in addition to leading Cardiology APPE Rotations at St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Siena Campus. She specializes in dosing protocols, and antiplatelet therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at the University of California, Riverside and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of the Pacific. She also completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Long Beach.
Monica Eberle D’Ottavio, MA
Graduate Programs Coordinator
Monica Eberle D’Ottavio serves as the Graduate Programs Coordinator for the College of Graduate Studies. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2018 and her Master of Arts in Grant Writing, Management and Evaluation at Concordia University of Chicago in December 2020. She currently coordinates recruiting, admissions, academic testing, and administrative tasks. Prior to becoming the Graduate Programs Coordinator, Monica served as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean in the Office of Research.
